Full Research Introduction & Usage Guide
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: For laboratory research use only. Not approved for human injection, clinical treatment or consumption. All information is for experimental reference only.
Important Clarification: Sterile Water is NOT a peptide. It is a preservative-free aqueous solvent widely used to reconstitute lyophilized research peptides.
1. Basic Overview
- Full Name: Sterile Water for Injection (SWFI)
- Chemical Composition: Purified, sterile, pyrogen-free H₂O; no preservatives, no benzyl alcohol
- Appearance: Clear, colorless liquid
- Common Pack Specification: 5mL, 10mL, 30mL glass vials
- Core Feature: Zero additives. Low cytotoxicity, compatible with in vitro cell culture and short-term in vivo animal experiments.
2. Mechanism & Characteristics
- Inert aqueous solvent
Neutral pH range, dissolves most lyophilized peptides without altering peptide molecular structure.
- Preservative-Free
No bacteriostatic agents. Cannot suppress microbial growth once the rubber stopper is punctured.
- Biocompatible
Unlike Bacteriostatic Water (BAC Water) containing benzyl alcohol, sterile water does not cause cell toxicity, making it suitable for cell culture experiments.
3. Main Research Applications
- Reconstitution of lyophilized peptides for in vitro cell culture testing
- Single-dose short-term animal injection experiments
- Experiments sensitive to benzyl alcohol interference
- Dilution buffer preparation for biochemical assays
Limitation: Not suitable for multi-dose long-term storage. Risk of bacterial contamination after opening.
4. Reconstitution Operation Protocol
- Let lyophilized peptide vial reach room temperature. Disinfect stoppers of both vials with alcohol pads.
- Draw required volume of sterile water with a syringe.
- Slowly inject liquid along the inner wall of peptide vial. Avoid direct impact onto powder to prevent peptide denaturation and foaming.
- Gently swirl the vial to dissolve powder. Do not shake vigorously.
Example for 3mg peptide vial:
Add 1mL sterile water → Concentration = 3 mg/mL
5. Storage Rules
- Unopened vial: Store at 15–30°C, avoid direct strong light, follow manufacturer expiration date.
- After rubber stopper pierced: Use within 24–72 hours; discard leftover liquid.
- Reconstituted peptide solution: Store at 2–8°C; freezing is not recommended.
6. Precautions
- Laboratory experimental solvent only. Not for human medical use.
- Once opened, bacteria will reproduce rapidly. Never store reconstituted peptides for up to 28 days like BAC Water.
- Discard liquid if turbidity, suspended particles or discoloration occurs.
- Not suitable for peptides requiring long-term stability testing without sterile sealing.
- Strict aseptic operation is required during all transfer procedures.
7. Comparison: Sterile Water VS Bacteriostatic Water (BAC Water)
| Parameter | Sterile Water | BAC Water |
|---|---|---|
| Preservative | None | 0.9% Benzyl Alcohol |
| Multi-dose storage | Not allowed, use within 24–72h | Stable up to 28 days refrigerated |
| Cell culture compatible | ✅ Yes | ❌ No (benzyl alcohol cytotoxic) |
| Best usage scenario | Cell assays, single short-term experiments | Long-term repeated animal injection research |
Short Version (For Product Listing / Customer Message)
Sterile Water (Sterile Water for Injection)
Sterile Water is preservative-free pyrogen-free water. It is a common solvent to reconstitute lyophilized peptides. It is biocompatible and ideal for cell culture experiments. Since there is no bacteriostatic agent, it must be used quickly after opening.
